YOU ARE KIDDING, RIGHT?

The TIMES LEADER said: Leighton proposed a new ordinance that can hold landlords and tenants liable who know about criminal activity and do not report it to authorities.

 YOU ARE KIDDING, RIGHT? So the idea is to hold tenants and landlords to a far higher standard than cops, city officials, county detectives and others. 

You don't think Mike Dessoye and other detectives knew of the millions LAG was bringing in? Did they share with FBI... or is it just when I became involved?
How about Gerard Dessoye's protected drug house? 
Do you think they mourned for a second when a mother of three died after visiting that house?
You don't think the entire police force knew the scam that LAG was running?
How about city hall who ignored calls and cries from victims?
How about the illegal car Majikes was using for years? Nobody knew?
You don't think DPW workers knew about Leighton's family stealing gas?

This “one strike” proposal is from one of the most contemptuous 

men I have ever seen (some foreign dictators edge him out)

… a proposal that is fraught with potential corruption

… that has a built-in conflict of interest to the Mayor because his units will never be touched.

… a plan that can only benefit the Mayor financially

… and enforced by people W-B residents already don't trust.

WOW!  This plan had to be jotted down on a cocktail napkin when someone was tanked. (How were your early Sunday afternoon toddies in public with Marty Kane, Mr. Mayor?  Glad to see you are at your best at 1 PM on a Sunday.) Just so you know… there is such a thing as alcohol treatment for those with courage… for those not too scared to face their own demons.

I'm sorry, this ordinance is bad news bears. If your neighbor in your upstairs or downstairs apartment is in the drug trade or a user or even just someone who has a joint once in a while in the privacy of his apartment, then the city can kick you out of YOUR apartment along with every one of your neighbors? That's insane! That's completely freaking ridiculous. It's no way to combat drug violence, and it's a blatant violation of residents' rights. This proposal is the most idiotic and terrifying idea I've ever seen a local municipality take on any issue. I know the right-wingers in NEPA hate the ACLU because Fox News tells them to, but they're absolutely right: the government can't kick you out of your home because of some made-up "one strike" policy that your city government cooked up.

The same people always complaining that "the gummint is commin' and they're gon' take away mah rights!" seem to be backing a proposal that does just that. You people surely can't be that stupid....right?

Neighbors can spark witch hunts against those they personally dislike and use this ordinance to do it. It violates due process and will not at all combat crime. It's an idiotic idea.
